My wife and I started taking classes with Zack a few months before our wedding. To be honest, I didn't really know how to dance at all. And the last thing I wanted to do was take dance lessons. I figured I could just "wing it" on our wedding day but my wife was terrified by that plan. So slowly but surely Zack started teaching me some moves. We literally had to start at the beginning - including how to hear the beat! Within a few short lessons, Zack had me moving and really having fun. Within a couple months we were actually working on a choreographed routine . . . and by the time our wedding came, we had it down! All thanks to Zack . . . I can say without hesitation that Zack is an amazing dance instructor. He really worked with me - at my speed and comfort level - to get me ready for my wedding.My wife and I had a lot of fun working with him from the very first lesson . . . to be honest, I didn't want to take lessons in the first place . . . but Zack made it a fun and rewarding experience . . . he's a talented dancer instructor - and a great person . . . what more could you ask for. I give Zack - and his dance loft - an enthusiastic 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend him to all my friends.

I met Zack when I was looking at dance studios to buy a pack of Salsa lessons as a gift for my girlfriend. I think I looked at every major dance studio in the city. Some had nicer spaces than others, but the format was basically the same at all of them; big ballroom with several lessons going on in different styles of dance, and you had to share the music.
I heard about Zack from an article written about him in New York Magazine. When I first met him and saw his space, I was immediately impressed both with his studio and his commitment to only holding one lesson at a time, with complete attention devoted to each couple.
I foolishly bought a pack of lessons with one of the other studios because I thought my girlfriend would like that better (she’s a trained dancer, so she’s used to that atmosphere). After struggling through our pack of 5 pre-paid lessons, I asked if she would like to meet Zack and try taking lessons with him. She was immediately drawn to Zack’s method of instruction. We both love that we get the whole studio to ourselves for each lesson, and we enjoy Zack’s patient and detail oriented approach to instruction. We also love how Zack has social events at his studio and now lessons there are even better since he moved to his larger space. Last but not least, we love that Zack steers clear of all the annoying multi-lesson package requirements and cancellation fees that make so many of the other studios such a hassle.
We’ve been going to Zack for over a year now and are now taking Waltz lessons from him to prepare for our first dance at our wedding. We can’t recommend Zack enough for those looking for regular weekly instruction or couples who want to test the waters with a lesson or two. Zack’s a great teacher, open to all types of students and he’s very diligent in providing just what students are looking for. And, he’s a pretty cool guy to hang out with too.

Hey Zack,
Wedding was AWESOME! First dance was pretty good I think. I guess the video will tell for sure, but we got a lot of compliments. We also managed to pull of the hard move where I check Janna and spin her in the other direction. That was a real crowd pleaser. I think our band forgot that we wanted the song 20% faster, so it was really slow, but that might of actually helped since I was really nervous. Overall, I’d say it went great. Hope you’ve had a good couple of weeks. Talk to you soon.

Zack,
Thanks for all your help and guidance in preparing us for our first dance. Though it is still a bit of a blur to both of us, everyone else said we did
amazing (the hammerlock got a big cheer from the crowd). We are hoping our
videographer caught it all on tape, not only so we can see how well we did
but so we can share with you how well you taught us. Thanks for everything!

The
wedding was in a couple of months and my husband and I
still did not know how to dance salsa. At your average
wedding, this might be okay, but not at a wedding where
there would be almost a hundred Puerto Ricans. We came
across Zack’s Dance Loft and decided to attend an
introductory session. As soon as we stepped into the loft,
we knew these lessons would be different from anything
we had ever experienced. The atmosphere was relaxed and
friendly as opposed to other places where it seems to
be all about business. Zack offered us fresh snacks and
a beverage before we began. His style of teaching was
also noticeably different from other instructors we had
seen. He let us get comfortable with salsa as a series
of walking steps, making our movements more natural and
fluid. |
After the first class, we immediately signed up
for 10 more intensive lessons. During the next six weeks,
we attended lessons two times a week. Zack assessed or
style of dancing, adjusting the way he helped us learn
steps to fit our learning styles. He did not force us
to conform to one way of learning steps. We did not feel
as if we were memorizing steps, but rather learning a
new way of expressing ourselves through dance.
By the
end of the sessions, Zack cultivated in us a passion for
dancing and managed to help us find a routine that was
sure to surprise everyone at the wedding. When we finally
performed our salsa routine, the response was amazing.
Our friends and family were cheering, clapping, standing
up out of there seats, and even whistling with joy. They
were surprised and impressed. We felt so proud that we could perform this special dance to bring both of our
families together.

Hi Zack,
Dan and I wanted to thank you for helping us with our dance for our wedding on August 5, 2006.
We just got back from our honeymoon, and people sent us lots of photos. This one in particular conveys how much fun we had during our dance. Thanks for helping us "wow" our crowd - they were hooting and hollering the entire time. This dip got an especially loud round of applause! We definitely couldn't have done it without you! Zack,
Our wedding dance to "Only You"
was terrific and so much fun. We got lots of compliments
and have been spreading the word about your great lessons! On our honeymoon in Mexico, we had many opportunities
to cha cha and salsa, and even got asked if we were
South American because our dancing was so good. Funny,
huh, considering where we started from! Anyway, since
we weren't able to come to our last few lessons, could
we make up the lessons by coming to some salsa classes?
If so, when are the salsa classes?

Before I began taking lessons with Zack, I was very
shy about dancing in front of people. With Zack's lessons,
I was able to overcome my fears by becoming comfortable
with dancing itself. Because of the way Zack examines
and adjusts to each person's way of moving on the dance
floor, he is able to come up with a personalized method
for teaching that person authentic steps. This allows
a person to become confident about dancing as well as
comfortable. I can honestly say that after my lessons
with Zack, I am not shy about going out to a club to
dance salsa. Because I feel confident and comfortable
dancing, I have no probe lm enjoying the music and the
variety of moves I learned. Zack is accommodating to
the level of dancing a person may have as well as to
how that person actually moves and responds to music.
This really helps to personalize the dancing experience.

Hey Zack! We had an amazing wedding... loved every second of it. John will kill me if I don't mention that he did the dance perfectly (I took a couple missteps...
