Boracay Island |
February 2010 Workshops Festival
The island jewel of Boracay — known for its emerald water, white sand beaches and glassy lagoons — may be just that.
Years ago, Boracay Island was a well-guarded secret that only a few knew of its existence. , it wasn't till the 1970s that tourism began to develop in Boracay, and the island became popular with backpackers in the 1980s. It was only in the 70s that changed the island’s pace from that of being a quiet secret to eventually being voted as having the best beach in the world. Indeed Boracay has just been named as one of New York Times' 44 Places to Go in 2009.
A number of accommodation types are scattered all over the island, ranging from luxurious hotel types to budget, spartan rooms. |

The Weather
| |
Boracay is under the administrative control of the Philippine Tourism Authority in coordination with the Provincial Government of Aklan. Less than an hour from Manila by plane, this small island located approximately 315km (200 miles) south of Manila and 2km off the northwest tip of the island of Panay in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.
Weather in Boracay is generally divided into two seasons: Amihan and Habagat. The Amihan season starts on September/October and ends on May/June. Unlike the Habagat season, which is characterized by hot and humid weather, the Amihan is characterized by moderate temperatures, and little or no rainfall. On February, Boracay will be in the Amihan weather, a perfect season for our workshops, dancing, and boozing:) |

In order to keep an appropriate balance of ladies and gentlemen and to expedite your learning curve, we are offering a free access to some local experienced dancers. By having experienced and presentable dance partner at the workshops, learning will be easy, chemistry on the dance floor will be maintained, and some "fizz" will added to your dancing.
Festivals will be held on Friday night and Saturday night after diner. The next day, on February 21, we leave for Boracay for More Salsa nights with locals and international dancers.
